Thanx Jax

My Aunt Jackie is a whiz-bang-a-roo when it comes to cooking, sewing, quilting, embroidery - you name it! For Christmas she made this little draw string pouch with this very pretty Kaffe Fassett fabric! She didn't just make me one, but she made everyone a pouch! She's the busiest lady I know!
It's perfect for storing your thread and scissors if you sew. Or jewelry or makeup! Just very pretty! Thank you Jax!
She also gave me these two wonderful books! The Art Nouveau book is perfect for embroidery and I have been wanting the Encyclopedia of Crochet for awhile now!! I can't wait to get started. Have any of you read the Encyclopedia of Crochet? I'm curious if it's easy to follow, because I don't even know the names of the stitches - like double crochet? Or slip stitch? Hopefully this book  will help!

A Very Merry Christmas

heavy photo ;)
I got to official give my brother his crocheted blanket!
The 5 of us open our gifts to one another on Christmas Eve, because no one in the family is really a morning person, so this prevents grumpiness and crankiness on Christmas. Plus you can then sleep in on Christmas morning - it's perfect!
Danny's wallet from Urban - it was on his wish list!
My dad & Lauren looking tough and precious all at once!
The granny square blanket wasn't finished for Christmas, but I did learn to connect them! Fingers crossed it will be finished by the end of the week!
Mickey was looking festive.
My mom gave me a FurReal toy pig - she thought it was odd. Mostly it was to mess with Mickey. The little pig oinks and moves. My lil cousin, Robbie got a RC toy tarantula! I asked for it last year, but my mom didn't think I was serious. Thank you for taking the toy pig matter seriously this year Mags!
My very best friend, Kris came down for a post Christmas Wedding Shower for her Auntie Lin. Kris, her mom Peggy, and I threw Auntie Lin the shower! The cake was from Let Them Eat Cake in South Tampa, and all the other food was from Whole Foods. Everything was decorated in red and white - so pretty!
The white frosting on the cake is the design on Auntie Lin's wedding dress! Kris' mom's idea!
Kristin and I made these little red velvet hearts! I never knew you had to use 2 full bottles of red food dye to make red velvet cake - don't give these to any hyper active kiddos!
That's my Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas too! What was your favorite gift you gave and what was your most favorite gift you received?
Obviously mine was the FurReal pig ;)

Farley Family Fun - FFF

Thank you again Heather! Robbie's fox hat made it just in time! He loved it, and his mom loved it even more! That's lots of Fox kids so watch out!
Lauren drove home from Nashville over the weekend, and we were obviously all stoked to see her! Here's a Lauren sandwich! Plus the Fox boys opened their gifts since we won't see them on Christmas. And we ate and ate and ate!
We had Cookie Day 2009 + crafting! I have 55 granny square completed and 15 to finish, then fingers crossed the blanket will be ready for Christmas!
Robbie made everyone a god's eye out of yarn! We made even more on cookie day out of sticks from the yarn (no popsicle sticks in the house).
It was a wonderful weekend! To me, Cookie Day is sometimes better than Christmas - I'm not sure what it is! Everyone was over eating, playing wii, baking, crafting - just having fun! What traditions do you all celebrate?

ps - amber we missed you!

One happy beckstar

I have to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to Heather for making this sly fox hat for my little cousin. His last name is Fox, and they have a cabin up in NC, so this is so perfect for him! She was able to get it finished so quickly! I cannot thank you enough, Heather! I am so happy! Robbie is going to love the hat!
I made some more stars, I actually really like making them. I would have made more but I was super sleepy!
Look you could do red, white, and blue for the 4th of July.
My garland is a bit weak lol maybe next year!

Carly suggested I crochet hearts, have any of you made hearts? They would be cute for Valentine's day! If you know a good tutorial for one past it long!

Heather, thank you again & again :)

Twinkle twinkle little crocheted star

Guess who's making star garland tonight!? Me!
Last night I made this little guy. I used this tutorial, and I think if you have granny squares down, you can easily make the stars. Try it!

I was really stoked about how it turned out! You can use them for garland, or put them on Christmas gifts, or add a hook and beads for an ornament!
What other shapes can I make? Do you all have any good tutorials?
I'll post the rest of my stars tomorrow.

Warm & Fuzzy Greetings

A bit ago, I bought flocking by Martha. Flocking is what makes toys fuzzy or is used for all different crafts. I thought I could use it on my Christmas cards!

I bought the Martha glue too, which I'm sure you can use any old glue, but it was right next to the flocking at Michael's so I just bought it.
I printed out greeting cards with Mickey as Rudolph, so they are perfect to flock!
First, I brushed the glue on where I wanted it.
Then shake the flocking dust onto the glue. I dumped mine into a paper plate to save the excess flocking, and use it again.
I let them dry overnight and TADA! Fuzzy Mickeys! I just thought I'd share with you, in case you're a slacker too and haven't got your Christmas cards out!
Happy flocking ;)

More of the same

Over the weekend I crocheted, shopped, and crocheted some more, oh and put up Christmas trees (plural)!
I am proud to say I have yet to go to a mall for gifts - woowhoo! I bought most of my gifts off etsy. Now I just have to wait for the mailman to drop them off!

I have close to 50 granny squares finished, just around 20 more to go! Then I am going to connect them all - which I'm nervous about! I think I'm going to use this tutorial.
Rachel from Smile and Wave finished her's and it's beautiful!
This is Carine's finished blanket - I love the multi colors!

My most favorite purchase over the weekend was this red nose that lights up!!!
 I think everyone needs one.
I bought a few for the lil ones in my family and the big ones that act like lil ones!
Hope no one is too stressed out with the holidays! I was a bit over the weekend, but then I realized what's the point in freaking out, right? Tea Party with the quilting ladies, cookie day, Lauren coming home, Kristin coming down from Boston, being blonde again soon - It's gonna be a good Christmas :)

Ready, set........Bows!

Last night I hid my crocheting from myself - lol! So I could work on other crafts for Christmas! First were hair bows for all the little girls in my family and Carly ;) I've been collecting colorful ribbon and cute buttons to make these.
Here are just a few!
I decided to wear one! Oh yes that's my orange hair :(
It's going to be fixed over the weekend.
The red was a permeant color, but my hair just wants to be blonde!

I also made a yarn wreath from the Red Velvet Girls Class. Looks pretty with the yarn all neatly wrapped right? Geez it took forever to wrap the yarn around and around and around. So be warned if you make one, you'll need patience!
I cut out little felt petals, making a poinsettia like flower!
Tonight back to crocheting :)

Can't stop

Tada! Here is the Giant Granny Square blanket I've been working on for my brother. I'm terrible at keeping gift secrets and he was in town for Thanksgiving, so I had to tell him. He doesn't get it til Christmas though -I'm wrapping it and putting it under the tree
It's almost finished, I want to end it in black yarn, since I started with black.
I can't stop crocheting, I love it, but my little fingers are sore!
I love the blanket above by the happy apple! She started in for her baby in her belly! So sweet! I really like the colors she picked! And below is Corrina Darling's very pretty crocheted star garland! I can't wait to make some! She found the star tutorial here.
Have you all been crocheting? Or are you stuck on a specific craft?

Feeling Festive

Look at my new Krunk-a-Klaus Dunny! Very festive right!?
Over the weekend I began to get excited about Christmas! I put up my grandma's Christmas tree with her and began the long list of Christmas gifts I'm making.
Here's one of them! I have about 28 granny squares completed, and now I just need to make 50 more! Do any of you have a good tutorial on how to connect them? I'm using brown yarn in between, but I'm not sure how to do it. So comment if you know pretty please!
Mickey thinks he must lay or sit on any quilt or blanket I'm making! Crazy pup!
Are you all feeling festive yet? What projects are you working on?

Hello everyone!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We did!
My siblings and I cut close to 50 apples, while Amber played Lady GaGa for us. We made 3 pies and 2 strudel and had a gallon size bag of cut up apples left over.  My brother Danny got a blister from peeling the apples - poor baby!
We took Christmas card pictures, ate a ton (because my Aunt Jackie is the best cook), crocheted, looked at a zillion World Expo Quilt Show pictures, and enjoyed the day together!
The highlight of the day was getting this 1950's projector to work. With my Uncle Travis' help we were able to watch old movies my grandpa made 45 years ago. It was awesome!!
I finished scanning all the slides, finally!! It was not an easy task ;)
Here is an old photo of Weeki Wachee, you Floridians are familiar with this I'm sure!
Now I want to go! Have any of you been?
This is just one of my favorite slides! That is nurse Jackie (Aunt Jackie) and that cowboy is my dad! Hilarious! Now I just to put them on a DVD with some music from my sister iPod.
Oh and I now have brownish red hair, no more blonde.
What do you think? I'm sure the blonde will be back soon.
I'm excited about Christmas! I did some online shopping and etsy shopping over the weekend. No malls for this girl- no thank you! I think it would bum me out. I also have a list of projects that need to get finished before Christmas. First I need to shake my cold! Wish me luck!
